Overview

Allweather Wood Company (AWW) is seeking an experienced Supervisor for Production based in our Loveland, CO treating facility. The base salary for this position is $65,000.00 to $80,000.00.  Your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education and/or experience.  Please keep in mind that that the range published is the full base salary. This position is onsite and requires regular, physical attendance.  Successful candidates must be able to work in person, interact directly with co-workers and team members, and fully participate in collaborative, in-office activities. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this role.

 

Allweather Wood is the largest producer and distributor of waterborne preservative treated wood products in the Western USA. Operating six wood preserving plants in California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, these state-of-the-art facilities enable year-round production of a variety of preservative systems, fire retardants, and wood species, including Douglas-fir, Hem fir, and Southern Yellow Pine. With support from two full-service distribution centers in California, Allweather Wood partners with home improvement retailers, lumberyards, and building material dealers to bring a full range of preservative and fire-retardant lumber and plywood products to market.

Responsibilities

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and directing a team of hourly employees in the production activities of the plant while safely achieving the company’s quality and productions goals. This position is also responsible for assisting the Production Manager to ensure that the production activity meets company expectations for production scheduling and inventory control.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise employees responsible for treating lumber to required retention levels, preparing barcoding and end-tagging, and shipping treated products.
  • Provide effective, positive leadership to motivate hourly production employees to meet or exceed established company goals.
  • Serve as acting supervisor in the absence of the Production Manager or Treating Plant Manager.
  • Operate various machinery as needed to maintain production coverage during staffing shortages or absences.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate lumber manufacturing operations in alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Oversee shipping, receiving, inventory control, product adjustments, chemical purchasing, and material allocation.
  • Direct and coordinate the Top Cap crew to ensure efficient operations and high-quality production.
  • Fulfill supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training employees; plan, assign, and direct work; evaluate performance; address complaints; and resolve employee concerns.
  • Maintain required quality control documentation and production data.
  • Interpret company policies for employees and enforce safety rules and regulations.
  • Establish or modify work procedures to meet production schedules and operational demands.
  • Analyze operational issues and recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Recommend changes to working conditions or equipment usage to enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Investigate and resolve work-related problems, providing guidance and support to employees as needed.
  • Initiate and support employee engagement and performance improvement efforts to achieve operational goals.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action processes.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping, production records, and inventory stock rotation.
  • Report machinery and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel promptly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Business is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years related supervisory or key leadership experience in a lumber manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must maintain and carry a valid driver’s license and remain eligible to operate a company vehicle including automobiles and truck in accordance with company policy guidelines.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and communicate them to employees.
  • Basic Algebra skills
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Experience with Lumber Track is a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish language skills are preferred but not required.

  • While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes from chemicals used in wood treatment processes, and airborne particles such as sawdust.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to vibration from operating machinery and mobile equipment, including forklifts.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
  • This position requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, a hard hat, leather or rubber gloves, sleeve protection, leather aprons, and face shields, in accordance with company safety policies.
