Overview

Humboldt Sawmill Company (HSC) is seeking a Relief Machine Operator 2 for Swing shift (Mon-Fri, 3:30pm-12:00am) to join our team in Scotia, CA!! This is a non exempt position at an hourly rate of $29.75 and includes benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401K Match.

Responsibilities

The Relief Machine Operator is responsible for relieving production operators during breaks, vacations, and other absences.

  • Relieves production operators during breaks, vacations and other absences
  • Checks with Supervisor for machine assignment daily
  • Inspects machine, and operates machine
  • Resets and calibrates machines
  • Collects reports and enters data into computers
  • Checks lumber sizes and adjusts machines as necessary
  • Communicates regularly with other team members and participates in team effort in work area;
  • Keeps work areas clean

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One year related sawmill / planer experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and memos
  • Apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to add, and subtract, two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
