Overview

Allweather Wood Company, LLC. (AWW) is seeking an experience Production Manager for their treating facility in Loveland, CO!

 

This is an exempt position, the base salary for this position is $85,000.00 to $90,000.00.  Your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education, and/or experience.  Please keep in mind the range published is the full base salary. Allweather Wood is the largest producer and distributor of waterborne preservative treated wood products in the Western USA. Operating six wood preserving plants in California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, these state-of-the-art facilities enable year-round production of a variety of preservative systems, fire retardants, and wood species, including Douglas-fir, Hem fir, and Southern Yellow Pine. With support from two full-service distribution centers in California, Allweather Wood partners with home improvement retailers, lumberyards, and building material dealers to bring a full range of preservative and fire-retardant lumber and plywood products to market.

Responsibilities

The Production Manager is responsible for overall production of the pressure treating business.  This position will assist the Plant Manager in providing leadership and management to the employees as they learn aspects of the business.  The Production Manager will ensure a consistently high level of performance in the areas of workplace safety and environmental compliance.

  • Assist the Plant Manager with direct supervision of employees.
  • Schedule employees and production levels to coordinate with the needs of the Distribution Center.
  • Improve process efficiencies within the plant.
  • Maintain, develop, and adhere to safety programs.
  • Assist in inventory cycle counts and audits.
  • Maintain inventory levels to meet customer needs.
  • Communicate with purchasing when inventory is insufficient to meet needs of customers.
  • Understand production flow and work with site supervisors to achieve production expectations.
  • Analyze inventory levels and provide appropriate reports to upper-level management for production needs assessment.
  • Support the Distribution Center and other outside customers with the highest quality products delivered with superior service.
  • Maintain a safe and environmentally responsible working environment.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts to upper-level management.
  • Analyze the financial impact of the day-to-day operations as well as the long-term decisions.
  • Review and recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product (continual improvement).
  • Understand and assume the responsibility of scheduling and overseeing the department payroll.
  • Implement approved changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Analyze and resolve work issues and/or assist workers in solving work issues.
  • Initiate plans to motivate employees to achieve higher performance.
  • Develop a culture within the business to foster teamwork.
  • Ability to develop the necessary skills to expand into Senior Management.
  • Complete projects assigned as directed by Senior Management.
  • Ensure that quality expectations are achieved.
  • Implement process and cultural change to improve efficiency or as directed to do so by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Directly supervise business unit employees in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws.
  • Coach employees for attainment of Company and individual goals and objectives in accordance with Company guidelines and performance management system.
  • Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Business is preferred
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience and/or inventory management experience is desired.
  • Supervisory or key leadership role experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must maintain and carry a valid driver’s license and remain eligible to operate a company vehicle including automobiles and truck in accordance with company policy guidelines
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and communicate them to employees
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Experience with Lumber Track is a plus
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. 
  • The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms above and below shoulder level. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. 
  • The employee is frequently exposed to vibrations from machinery and equipment.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, hard hat, leather or rubber gloves, sleeve protection, leather aprons, and face shields.
