Overview

Relief Machine Operator 2 Wanted for both Day and Swing shifts!! This is a non exempt position at an hourly rate of $28.75. It includes benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401K Match.

 

Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC™) is looking for an experienced Relief Machine Operator 2 to join our PLANER team in Scotia, CA!

 

In aggregate, The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant

 

 

Responsibilities

Relieves production operators during breaks, vacations, and other absences.

  • Relieves production operators during breaks, vacations and other absences
  • Checks with Supervisor for machine assignment daily
  • Inspects machine, and operates machine
  • Resets and calibrates machines
  • Collects reports and enters data into computers
  • Checks lumber sizes and adjusts machines as necessary
  • Communicates regularly with other team members and participates in team effort in work area;
  • Keeps work areas clean

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One year related sawmill / planer experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and memos
  • Apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to add, and subtract, two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit
  • Frequently the employee is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • The personal protective equipment requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety shoes, hard hat, and fall protection as required
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
