Overview

Mendocino Forest Products Company, LLC. (MFP) is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This is an onsite position based in Calpella, CA.

 

The base salary for this position is $75,000.00 to $85,000.00.  Your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education and/or experience.  Please keep in mind that that the range published is the full base salary. We also offer a generous benefits package.

 

The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Responsibilities

Summary

Works with the Controller in supporting Business Unit managers and staff and the Corporate Group by performing the following functions.

  • Prepares journal entries as part of the month-end close.
  • Responsible for various account reconciliations, across multiple entities.
  • Reviews monthly financial reports and investigates any variances.
  • Works directly with corporate transaction team including accounts payable, treasury and accounts receivable.
  • Prepares documentation and schedules included in the monthly financial package.
  • Reviews sales orders, shipment, invoices, work orders, etc. in Inventory Management system (LumberTrack ERP)
  • Supports operations team with reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Produces reports for and works with third party auditing firm.
  • Reconciles general ledger balances as they relate to our ERP system.
  • Captures consignment program activities, processes inventories, and maintains records and reporting.
  • Processes workorders in our ERP system to adjust inventory levels.
  • Understands job costing, analyses and updates monthly.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college, or university;
  • Two years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting systems, Great Plains a plus.
  • A high level of proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Queries within Excel.
  • Familiarity with inventory-based business applications systems is a plus.

Work Environment:

This position is regularly required to work in an office environment where the noise level is usually quiet.  Throughout the year the employee may be required to perform duties in an outdoor environment, to include the warehouse and lumber yards, in all types of environmental conditions.

 

Travel Requirements:

Position has travel requirements of a local nature to other inventory sites (within 125 miles), usually by car, for up to 25% of the time; must maintain a valid driver’s License and participate in the company driving policy requirements.
