Humboldt Sawmill Company (HSC) has immediate openings for Packaging Laborers on Swing Shift!  This is a non-exempt position at an hourly rate of $22.87 and offers full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401K Match. 

The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. • Keeps equipment and work area clean
• Provides assistance where needed and performs a wide variety of jobs and duties as assigned, with a high level of proficiency and accuracy

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum six months related experience.
• Ability to train to obtain forklift certification.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read and understand instructions and memos.
• Ability to write simple sentences.
• Basic Algebra
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.

Physical Requirements: 

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. 
• The employee is occasionally required to smell.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral and ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. 
• The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; and risk of electrical shock. 
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
• This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety shoes, and hard hat.
