Overview

Mendocino Forest Products (MFP) is looking for an experienced Purchasing Administrator to join our Purchasing team to work with us at our Calpella, CA office.  

 

This is a non-exempt position at an hourly rate of $28.00 and includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision and 401K matching.

This position is responsible to procure materials or other goods and/or coordinates activities involved with purchasing products and services while developing and executing company policy, process and guidelines for Non-COGS purchasing.  Position will work to maintain and oversee the Corporate Vendor Management and Electronic Purchasing System in conjunction with Manager, Purchasing and additional limited scope groups within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements with vendors as directed by manager
  • Work as liaison between suppliers and internal customers for issue resolution or needs
  • Work with Purchasing Clerks as needed to back-up and provide information sharing
  • Management of Corporate Vendor Management System
    • Process, procedure and presentation of system changes or updates as needed
    • Train new users and ensure documents are received to source and set-up vendors
    • Fuel usage tracking and reporting maintain and issue keys
    • Purchase order resolution by researching missing PO from A/P invoices
  • Reporting MRO supply chain performance to manager
  • Evaluation and development of approved vendors and list as appropriate
  • Receive and review requisitions for goods or services based on purchasing approval levels
  • MRO inventory data entry and system management
  • Organize and manage vendor Certificates of Insurance
  • Other clerical and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate degree from two-year college preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of electronic purchasing and development experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents,
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management or other departments as requested.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportion, and percentage including concepts of basic algebra and geometry as needed.
  • Working knowledge of ERP software; Order processing systems, and Project Management software.
  • Proficient experience in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Travel Requirements:

  • Position travels outside the local area but generally within the state, usually by car or plane, up to 25% of the time.
