Overview

Allweather Wood Company (AWW) is seeking a Forklift Loader to join their team based in Hawaii. This is a non-exempt position at an hourly rate of $27.15 and includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401K matching.

 

Allweather Wood is the largest producer and distributor of waterborne preservative treated wood products in the Western USA. Operating six wood preserving plants in California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, these state-of-the-art facilities enable year-round production of a variety of preservative systems, fire retardants and wood species, including Douglas-fir, Hem fir, and Southern Yellow Pine. With support from two full-service distribution centers in California, Allweather Wood partners with home improvement retailers, lumberyards, and building material dealers to bring a full range of preservative and fire-retardant lumber and plywood products to market.

Responsibilities

Forklift Loader Duites:

  • Drives propane or diesel-powered industrial Forklift equipped with lifting devices to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials throughout the grounds. 
  • Participates constructively to the movement and warehousing of products to ensure the Business Unit can meet customer requirements for superior products in the safest and service-oriented manner available. 
  • Safely operates and drives Forklift while controlling the movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area or truck.
  • Unloads and/or stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
  • Inventories materials on work floor, tallies product and maintains stock rotation.
  • Loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting device.
  • Performs preoperational checks on forklifts and reports all service and operational concerns.
  • Repackages material/units, as necessary.
  • Scans loads with electronic hand scanner.
  • Maintains work area housekeeping.
  • Participates in the yearly inventory audit.

 

Warehouse Laborer Duties:

  • Perform a wide variety of jobs and duties as assigned, with a high level of proficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform duties such as tagging and wrapping lumber
  • Perform as a relief operator on other jobs as needed
  • Perform light maintenance as required
  • Perform scheduled inspections on equipment and prepare reports as required for management and maintenance personnel
  • Check unit tags for accuracy
  • Placard, Barcode and tag units
  • Repackage and band units
  • Set stickers
  • Pull special orders
  • Keep equipment and work area clean
  • Operate machinery: chop saw, mower, nail gun, etc.
  • Perform quality/accuracy checks on machine setups
  • Assist in preparing products for inventory stock
  • Works on specific tasks as needed

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 6 months to 1-year related experience and/or training
  • Possess a current forklift operator’s license, or be able to provide proof of previous forklift operator’s license
  • Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to operate a hand-held calculator
  • Write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with customers and employees of organization
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

 

 Physical Requirements:

 

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to machinery in operation, fumes, dust, and loud environments.
  • This position requires wearing eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, leather or rubber gloves, and hard hat.
