Overview

Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC™) is looking for an experienced Stacker Operator to join our team in Scotia, CA! 

Hourly Wage - $26.84

 

The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.  

Responsibilities

Summary

Operates Stacker to sort and stack lumber in a safe and productive manner.

  • Stack lumber units in solid packages or stacks lumber on sticks for drying depending on destination.
  • Monitor sticking machine for cross ups, broken stickers, and debris
  • Maintain supply of lathe stickers
  • Communicate with Bin Tender, Tallier and Forklift Operator
  • Inspect end stacker every day
  • Perform light maintenance as required, and recognize possible problems to be communicated to maintenance

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or 3 months related experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • This position requires the employee to view a computer screen and use a keyboard for extended period of time. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral and ability to adjust focus.
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. 
  • The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. 
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety goggles/glasses, safety shoes, hard hat, plus any appropriate PPE for the specific job being performed.
