The Humboldt Sawmill Company, (HSC) has an opening for a Water Truck Driver to join our Log Yard team in Scotia, Ca Sawmill.Water Truck Driver will drive the Water Truck to keep the log yard clean and safe and operates water truck as often as necessary to reduce dust levels.

Responsibilities

  • Load truck with water and dispense water out onto the yard as often as necessary to reduce dust levels.
  • Daily inspection, service, fueling, and related paperwork.
  • Verify all guard/safety equipment is in place before operation; follows all safety procedures.
  • Assist mechanics with maintenance and repairs.
  • Communicate with the log yard traffic and always maintain safe operation.
  • Operate machine according to guidelines and specifications.
  • Assist scalers with taping of logs for lengths.
  • Cleans work area during downtime.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly on CB radio.
  • Always follows safe work practices.
  • When weather permits, cleanup and other duties will be assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • CDL and Tank Endorsement Required. 
    • If you do not have a tank endorsement you will be required to obtain one within the first 30 days of employment.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and remain alert while driving for an aggregate period of up to 8 hours.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. 
  • The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. 
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety shoes, and hard hat.
