Overview

Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC) is looking for Fuel Pushers (Loaders) to join our  team at our Power Plant in Scotia, CA! You will operate, fuel, and service a wheel loader, to provide hog fuel to conveyors for the boilers.  The hourly rate for this position is $26.88 and includes full benefts; Medical, Dental, Vision and 401K match

Responsibilities

The key areas of focus for this position are as follows;

Operate, fuel, and service a wheel loader, to provide hog fuel to conveyors for the boilers. Maintain a clean and safe environment.  Must perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or lead person including providing break period relief for boiler operators.

  • Drive a bucket loader to transport wood waste from storage areas to feed conveyors and transporting wood waste to storage areas from an outside truck dump.
  • Fuel and service the loader by keeping an eye on fluid levels, blowout the radiator as sawdust builds up, blow the engine air filter off, keep knuckles and rams clean, grease fittings regularly, and blow off loader before it is left for maintenance.
  • Must be attentive and maintain awareness of surroundings while maneuvering both loader and bobcat.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment. 
  • Must perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or lead person including providing break period relief for boiler operators.
  • Operate truck dumps as needed.
  • Keep drains flowing and clear of debris during winter
  • Monitor the inside truck dump and fuel conveyors
  • Ensure management is informed of plant operating conditions as well as maintain waste and product inventories
  • Follow Company safety procedures to ensure safety while working.
  • Follow all other Company Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications

  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Minimum 6 months related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with tractor type vehicles and bobcats preferred but not required.
  • Forklift license or ability to obtain

Physical Requirements:

  • May frequently be required to sit, smell, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • The personal protective equipment requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. This job requires eye and hearing protection, leather/rubber gloves, safety vest, safety shoes, fall protection, hard hat, welding protection, sleeve protection and respirator
  • The work environment is usually loud in noise and will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, outside adverse weather conditions, vibration, wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, dust, dirt, grease and machine noise.
