Hourly Rate : $27.65

 

The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Responsibilities

Operates liquefied gas industrial forklift to load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.  Participates constructively to the movement and warehousing of products to ensure that Business Unit is able to meet customer requirements for superior products in the safest and service-oriented manner available.

 

  • Operate forklift to load trucks
  • Comply with management directives for equitable loading assignment allocation
  • Comply with procedures for stock picking, transport, loading and stock rotation
  • Load truck in a style that provides for maximum logistical efficiency, and in a manner consistent with government regulatory constraints for volume, weight, center of gravity, load integrity, and transportation safety
  • Maintain stock in designated area ready for loading on trucks
  • Move levers and press pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus
  • Position forks under units, pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area
  • Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting device
  • Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device
  • Maintain work area in a clean and organized condition

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 6 months to 1 year  related experience and/or training
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Operate a hand-held calculator and RF Scanner
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees of organization
  • Competently operate a computer and operating system.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate
  • Subject to varying weather conditions including rain, snow, ice, wind, heat and cold
  • The employee must be able to get use arms and legs to lift and descend themselves on and off a lift multiple times throughout the day.
  • Regularly use hands and wrists to operator levers and steering wheel as well as use feel and ankles to operate pedals
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, and vibration and frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
