Overview

Experienced Industrial Electricians and PLC Lead Electricians Wanted!! Hourly Rate: $36.65 -  $46.65, up to $46.15 for Lead positions. These positions includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and 401K Matching.  Relocation Assistance may be Available dependent on position!  

 

We are hiring for Day, Swing and Graveyard shifts and offer shift differential pay.   

 

You will contribute to the overall function and performance of all onsite facilities. Sawmill and wood processing operations are highly dependent on automated processes, of which an Industrial Electrician is essential. Your job is to ensure quick turnaround in the event of component failure as well as planning and execution of maintenance tasks, site improvements, and machinery optimization related to the electrical trade.

 

The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Collectively providing 950 employees and their families with excellent wages and benefits in communities throughout the Western USA. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.

 

Responsibilities

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Plan and execute new or modified installations from start to finish. Defined by identifying project scope, material demands, code compliance, tooling requirements, dependencies, timeline, projected labor and execution.
  • Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, install electrical conduit, wiring, and endpoint components. Utilizing threaders, saws, bending equipment, power tools, and pulling in conductors.
  • Replace and maintain; contactors, motor starters, sensors, MCC sections, PLC I/O, VFD and DCS devices.
  • Maintain motor bearings and brushes. Replace as needed.
  • Replace damaged or broken equipment.
  • Troubleshoot poorly performing equipment and identify plan to repair or improve deficiencies.
  • Utilize electrical testing equipment, including but not limited to; voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter and understand their classifications.
  • Use schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment or process related issues and problems
  • Assist in maintaining inventory levels and organization. Communicate any deficiency found promptly.
  • Implement electrical safety standards as required by NFPA 70, NFPA 70B and NFPA 79. (National Fire Protection association- National electric code)
  • Utilize safe work practices and follow guidelines outlined in NFPA 70E.
  • Hold a high standard of workmanship. Avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Maintain workplace cleanliness.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with Sawmill and Planer production facilities and processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLCs, VFD operation, and understanding of ladder logic.
  • Understanding of automation control components and their applications.
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller and Software.
  • Familiar with NFPA 70B and NFPA 79.
  • Ability to fabricate frames and brackets using angle grinders, saws, and welding equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. Familiarity with mechanical powertrain components and their applications.
  • Previous business and process management experience.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills; Word, Excel, and Access software.
  • Certificate from college or technical school preferred.
  • Four years related experience and/or two years technical craft training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to comprehend and implement new strategies, methods, and practices quickly.
  • Ability to interpret machine center, power distribution, and controls schematics.
  • Must maintain, carry a valid driver license, and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with department lead and other skilled trades.
  • Strong understanding of hand tools and power tools as well as their uses.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. 
  • The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. 
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety shoes, and hard hat.
