Overview

Allweather Wood Company, LLC (AWW) is seeking an experienced Director, Sales for our Southern California Market. This position will be based in Fontana, CA. 

 

The base salary for this position is $115,000.00 to $150,000.00.  Your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education and/or experience.  Please keep in mind that that the range published is the full base salary. We also offer a generous benefits package.

 

Allweather Wood is the largest producer and distributor of waterborne preservative treated wood products in the Western USA. Operating six wood preserving plants in California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, these state-of-the-art facilities enable year-round production of a variety of preservative systems, fire retardants and wood species, including Douglas-fir, Hem fir, and Southern Yellow Pine. With support from two full-service distribution centers in California, Allweather Wood partners with home improvement retailers, lumberyards, and building material dealers to bring a full range of preservative and fire-retardant lumber and plywood products to market.

 

The Director of Sales will be responsible for managing a hybrid distribution sales team to achieve sales targets, meet strategic objectives and ensure performance excellence by providing guidance, support, and direction. The Director of Sales will play a vital role in maintaining a customer-centric focus throughout all interactions, ensuring that customer needs are prioritized and met with exceptional service and innovative solutions. Customer site visits, events, entertainment, and collaborative engagements with the sales team will be key components of the role, emphasizing the importance of building strong customer relationships and driving customer loyalty.

 

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen existing customer relationships and green fielding new customers through exceptional service and tailored solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to expand product lines with current customers organically, enhancing revenue streams.
    Implement strategies for green-fielding new customers and market segments to drive business growth.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential leads and opportunities for expanding the customer base.
  • Plan and conduct regular customer site visits to understand their needs and preferences firsthand.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to address specific customer requirements and provide tailored solutions.
  • Organize and participate in customer events such as product showcases, industry conferences, PK meetings, and networking opportunities.
  • Utilize events as a platform to strengthen relationships, highlight new products, and generate leads.
  • Arrange customer entertainment activities to build rapport and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Ensure that customer entertainment initiatives align with the company's values and brand image.
  • Accompany and lead sales team members on customer visits to provide guidance, support, and strategic direction.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment during customer interactions to maximize sales opportunities. 
  • Develop and nurture long-term relationships with key customers by understanding their needs and exceeding their expectations.
  • Leverage customer interactions to gather feedback, identify opportunities for upselling, and address concerns proactively.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop targeted sales strategies that align with business objectives and growth targets.
  • Implement innovative approaches to enhance the sales process and drive sustainable revenue growth.
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to make informed decisions.
  • Utilize market intelligence to identify opportunities for product development, pricing adjustments, and market positioning.
  • Monitor sales team performance metrics, track KPIs, and analyze sales data to evaluate effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide regular feedback and coaching to sales team members to optimize their performance and drive results.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as marketing, operations, and finance to align sales initiatives with overall business strategies.
  • Ensure seamless coordination between sales, production, and customer service teams to deliver a unified customer experience.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, sales techniques, and best practices to enhance personal and team effectiveness.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous learning and development within the sales team to foster professional growth and performance excellence.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ experience as a sales leader
  • Proven experience in sales management, preferably in a similar industry
  • Strong history of building and maintaining successful customer relationships
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive sales growth through innovative approaches
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Maintain acceptable fill rates and on time deliveries by collaborating with production and transportation.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
