We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a Sawmill Product Line Manager - Redwood Sales for our Scotia and Ukiah sawmills in California. This role holds the responsibility of selling and managing the sales and inventories of our redwood products, as well as overseeing stock transfers to our internal supply chain. Additionally, the successful candidate will be tasked with expanding and developing our customer base outside of California. This position requires frequent travel for customer visits and trade shows, with a minimum of one week per month.

The base salary for this position is $100,000 to $130,000 depending on experience.  Your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic locations, skills, education and/or experience.  Please keep in mind that that the range published is the full base salary. We also offer a generous benefits package.

 

This is an onsite position based in our Ukiah, CA sales office and does not offer remote capability.

 

Responsibilities

Redwood Sales and Inventory Management:
 

  • Develop and execute effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets for the Redwood product line.
  • Maintain and grow customer relationships, ensuring prompt response to inquiries, orders, and requests.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and stay ahead in the redwood market.
  • Manage inventory levels to optimize production and minimize waste or overstocking.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
  • Cross sell between various product lines.

Internal Supply Chain Management:

 

  • Oversee stock transfers and allocation to internal supply chains, coordinating with logistics and operations teams.
  • Collaborate with the production and fulfillment teams to ensure timely availability of redwood products for internal customers and projects.
  • Monitor internal stock levels and coordinate with other departments to optimize product availability.

Customer Base Expansion:

 

  • Identify and develop opportunities to expand the customer base for redwood products throughout the United States.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to understand customer needs and preferences in different regions.
  • Prospect, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with new and potential customers.
  • Attend trade shows and industry events to promote our redwood products and expand business opportunities.

Travel and Reporting:

 

  • Travel regularly for customer visits, trade shows, and industry events (minimum of one week per month).
  • Prepare detailed reports and sales forecasts for management, highlighting key performance indicators and sales trends.
  • Provide regular updates on market conditions, competitor activities, and customer feedback.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Sales, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in sales and account management, preferably within the sawmill industry or related sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of the redwood market and products.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively for customer visits and trade shows.
  • Proficiency in using sales and inventory management software.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a proven track record of achieving sales targets.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in using CRM software, MS Office, and other relevant sales tools.

 

Physical Requirements:

  •  Frequently required to walk, sit for extended periods of time, and communicate. The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or lift and is regularly required to use wrists and fingers to type for extended periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to sit and view a computer screen with use of a keyboard for extended periods of time.
