Humboldt Redwood consists of forestry as well as lumber manufacturing and distribution operations. Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC) is looking for an experienced MRO Purchasing Clerk to join our sawmill maintenance team in Scotia, CA. This position will review requisitions and coordinate all activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies as well as performs clerical duties to maintain purchasing system records of business transactions.

 

The hourly rate for this position is $25.65!

Responsibilities

  • Identifies potential supplies and facilitates qualifying new suppliers
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
  • Maintains manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories
  • Expedites delivery of goods to users
  • Counts, measures, or weighs articles to verify contents of shipments against bills of lading, invoices, or storage receipts
  • Examines articles for defects and sort articles according to extent of defect
  • Unloads and unpacks incoming shipments by hand or forklift
  • Uses a keyboard to enter purchasing and receiving information into computer
  • Sorts and files purchasing and receiving records
  • Prepares spreadsheets and obtains details for prices
  • Maintains vendor list of prospective subcontractors and materials/new products
  • Collects and enters bids into spreadsheets for evaluation by the Manager
  • Provides samples and information to staff as requested
  • Corresponds, issues and tracks Purchase Orders with outside vendors
  • Confirms with vendors delivery schedules to ensure Company can meet requirements
  • Decides with vendors for timely product pick-up
  • Creates PO’s to Companies as required
  • Closes PO’s in computer systems at completion as needed
  • Organizes and maintains MRO inventories

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required and minimum of six months experience in warehouse, shipping, or sales preferably with a company that manages and sells lumber or similar material or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must maintain and carry a valid California driver license and remain eligible to operate a company vehicle including automobiles and trucks in accordance with company policy guidelines
  • Forklift experience and the ability to obtain current certification
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to learn company purchasing software and accounting software
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form

 

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, stand; walk; use hands – keyboarding for long periods of time, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and frequently up to 50 pounds
