TimberLand Security Officer Wanted! Humboldt Redwood Company (HRC) is looking for a TimberLand Security Officer to join our Forestry team in Scotia, CA! The hourly rate for this position is $25.65

Under the direction of the Director of Forestry Operations, this position patrols, secures, and protects private forestlands, property, human resources, and other assets of the Company and its contractors in a safe and professional manner.   The position requires a flexible schedule including the ability to work weekends, evenings, and nights. Strong communication skills and a background in law enforcement or similar experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol of company properties including security and maintenance of locked gates.
  • Interacts with the public including supervision of approved entry access agreements.
  • Checks, replaces broken or defective locks and damaged or missing "no trespass" signs or equivalent.
  • Orders parts, manufactures, and assembles locks and keys, maintains lock and key inventory.
  • Assists with maintenance of files on all locks and security systems.
  • Participates in the aircraft observations of Company lands.
  • Promptly investigates allegations of theft, vandalism, trespass, and other illegal acts detrimental to Company and contractor assets and operations.
  • Writes findings and submits investigative reports to Director of Forest Operations and applicable agencies.
  • Work closely with law enforcement agencies and attorneys to conduct and finalize investigations.
  • Participates in the reporting and planning of eradication activities and prosecution of people dumping garbage or conducting other illegal activities on Company property.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or higher education.
  • Experience in law enforcement or related field.
  • Experience in outdoor sleuthing and investigations. 
  • Must maintain and carry a valid California driver license and be eligible to operate company vehicles including automobiles, trucks and/or all-terrain vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines.
  • Desire and ability to obtain education and training relevant to position including gaining a working knowledge of laws and regulations that pertain to theft, vandalism, trespass, and other acts that may cause loss in value of Company asset or increased Company liability.
  • This position must have the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be able to work weekends and have a daily work schedule that is varied in the beginning and ending times.

 

Physical Requirements 

  •  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and communicate.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move up to 100 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to sit and view a computer screen with use of a keyboard for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to observe lands from helicopters/airplanes.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to outside adverse weather and field conditions including steep and difficult terrain for periods of up to 8 hours per day.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position may require the following equipment when in the field: eye protection, sleeve protection, hard hat, safety shoes, leather/rubber gloves and ATV helmet.
  • Position travels locally, usually by car, truck, ATV, plane, or helicopter, up to 90% of the time.
