Millwright 1 - Hourly Wage $35.65-  Relocation help is available!  Position Located in Ukiah, California

 

The work schedule for this position is swing shift and weekend work: Swing Shift hours are 3:00pm-12:30am / 3:30pm-1:00pm, Monday - Friday or Tuesday - Saturday. Weekend is Saturday - Wednesday.

 

The Millwright 1 Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery and equipment in a safe and productive manner at a high level of proficiency. Operates hand, machine and power tools, forklifts, manlifts, and welding equipment.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Able to perform all levels of Millwright work with no supervision or direction.
  • Demonstrates competency in trouble shooting and repairing of pneumatic and hydraulic apparatuses, with a solid understanding of both systems
  • Maintain all material conveying systems according to manufactures specifications and company
  • Supports Company preventative maintenance program; works as an integral part of the maintenance
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of
  • Advanced skill level in layout and cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal
  • Effectively communicates with coworkers when notified of
  • Follows all lockout / tagout, hot work permit and confined space procedures and testing machines for restart
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery
  • Fill line oilers daily
  • Ability to identify potential problems prior to failures
  • Demonstrates solid troubleshooting skills with more complicated maintenance problems providing technical direction to other millwrights as required

Qualifications

  • One year certificate from college or technical school.
  • Or minimum two years related Sawmill experience.
  • Or two years technical craft training.
  • Or equivalent combination equaling 1,500 hours on the job training and 50 hours classroom time.
  • Must maintain and carry a valid driver license and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines
  • Basic Algebra, Geometry and computer skills including MS Office
  • Licensed Forklift Operator/ Certified Man-Lift Operator
  • Meets the minimum tool requirements
  • Demonstrates safe work practices including LOTO, Hot work permits & Equipment Operation
  • Proven ability to follow detailed work instructions, blueprints, and schematics
  • Demonstrates Ability and has been Certified in the following:
  • Advanced understanding of lubrication systems and proper lubrication application
  • Advanced welding skills
  • Advanced oxy-acetylene torch skills
  • Master level competencies in fabrication and construction
  • Properly install and adjust drive and transfer chains
  • Properly change, adjust, and track transfer and drive belts
  • Understanding and proper use of tools and equipment
  • Remove, rebuild, and reinstall cylinders and valves including electrical connections
  • Master competency in set-up, installation, and trouble-shooting power transmission systems.
  • Solid knowledge of proper rigging and lifting
  • Set-up and check bearings for proper operation

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration. 
  • The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. 
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • This position requires eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, safety shoes, and hard hat.
