Overview

Mendocino Redwood Company (MRC) is looking for a resourceful, experienced Database Analyst  to join our Forestry team  in Ukiah, CA.

  • The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Director, Stewardship.
  • This position will be responsible for the design, structure, testing, maintenance, and documentation of database systems  
  • You will develop and support applications and browsing tools, Create, upgrade, and maintain database system parameters to assure the security and integrity of the databases, online/enterprise, and mobile application tools.

Responsibilities

The key areas of focus for this position are as follows;sing and similar special projects when the need arises.

  • Work cooperatively with the GIS department in the design of SQL server databases and tables when they relate to GIS enterprise geodatabases spatial database engine (SDE).
  • Design, code, test, document, and implement tools for querying and reporting on data.
  • Develop database standards and maintain the data dictionary.
  • Develop and maintain standards for file naming and directory structures.
  • Maintain standard field names, labels, stored procedures, and formats.
  • Update, upgrade, and maintain database systems to ensure the security and integrity of managed databases.
  • Develop utilities to automate regular database activities and access using Microsoft SQL Server, MS/Office, and other developer tools.
  • Review the design, and implementation of databases created by other departments.
  • Conversion of existing Microsoft Access based applications to SQL Server applications.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field, or its equivalent.
  • Strong working experience in MS Access and SQL Server administration, security, index, user management, performance tuning, and migration.
  • Strong knowledge of relational database theory, normalization/denormalization, data warehouse and system design requirements.
  • Experience with Python, GIS, and ESRI products.
  • Experience in developing custom queries and standardized reports based on customer needs using SQL Server Reporting Services or other reliable reporting solutions.
  • Experience in data analysis, reporting, data modeling tools and/or design methodologies.

Physical Requirements

  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
