Responsibilities

Maintains lubrication of production machinery in a safe and productive manner.

 

  • Inspects and tests machinery and equipment for appropriate oiling;
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery;
  • Follows all lockout / tagout procedures;
  • Fills line oilers daily;
  • Reports problems to the Millwright staff as appropriate;
  • Assists with maintenance projects, as needed;
  • Supports the company preventative maintenance program; work as an integral part of the maintenance team;
  • Works to develop the skills necessary to assist in the duties of a Millwright.
  • Effectively communicates with coworkers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years related experience and/or training in a sawmill environment. 
  • Must possess a current forklift operator’s license, or be able to provide proof that he or she had possessed a forklift operator’s license previously or have the ability to train to obtain license. 
  • Must maintain and carry a valid driver license and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply basic math concepts. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form. 

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. 
  • The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms above and below shoulder level. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and communicate. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • This position may perform tasks of a repetitive nature.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. 
  • The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. 
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • This position requires wearing eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, hard hat, leather or rubber gloves, sleeve protection, leather aprons and face shields.
