Mendocino Redwood Company (MRC) is looking for a Facilities Caretaker to join our team in either Ukiah or Fort Bragg, CA! Under the direction of the Mendocino Redwood Company’s (MRC) Asset Manager, this unique individual will maintain and caretake the company recreational townsite, private beach and demonstration forest in historic Rockport, CA. This position will be required to work weekends, evenings, and nights to maintain the company’s assigned properties.  Onsite housing is available if necessary.

Responsibilities

  •  Maintain and keep all facilities clean from litter and garbage
  • Clean and prepare onsite houses for guests prior to arrival
  • Utilize landscape equipment such as a riding mower or tractor to maintain appropriate vegetation, grass, and lawn down to an appropriate level for guest comfort
  • Perform required repairs when necessary and oversee major repairs
  • Report malfunctions of amenities, fixtures and/or damage at all facilities immediately to supervisor
  • Provide all visitors with exceptional service and foster good community relations
  • Be a valuable part of the effective on-site team
  • Learn and adhere to all company standards of quality cleaning and facilities caretaking
  • Perform facilities turn-over duties within required timeframe
  • Keep all interior and exterior areas always clean
  • Keep watch over designated property areas by regularly walking around or through to insure property is clean and safe for guests

Qualifications

  • Three to Five years’ experience as a facilities and remote property caretaker
  • Three to Five years’ experience with residential housekeeping or in the hospitality industry
  • Janitorial experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • General maintenance skills such as but not limited to:
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical
    • Carpentry
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to perform under pressure and be flexible with disruptions throughout the workday

Physical Requirements 

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and communicate.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and taste or smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to outside adverse weather and field conditions including steep and difficult terrain for periods of up to 8 hours per day.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position may require the following equipment when in the field: eye protection, sleeve protection, hard hat, safety shoes, leather/rubber gloves and ATV helmet.
  • Position travels locally, usually by car, truck, or ATV.
