    Mendocino Forest Products (MFP) is looking for a dynamic Senior Staff Accountant professional to join our Accounting team in Calpella, CA! As an Senior Staff Accountant you will be part of an excellent Accounting and Finance team, which strives to provide outstanding professional support to the Mendocino Family of companies.

    The key areas of focus for this position is to work with the Controller in supporting Business Unit managers and staff and the Corporate Group by performing the following functions.

    • Prepares journal entries as part of the month-end close.
    • Responsible for various account reconciliations.
    • Investigates accounting problems and assists in planning new procedures to assure the accuracy of accounting data.
    • Assists corporate transaction team including corporate accounts payable, treasury and account receivable.
    • Prepares documentation and schedules included in the monthly Greenbook package.
    • Reviews sales orders, shipment, invoices, work orders, etc. in Inventory Management system (LumberTrack)
    • Supports operations team with reporting and analysis as needed.
    • Produces reports for and works with third party auditing firm.
    • Reconciles general ledger balances related to lumber purchasing, consignment operations and freight accruals.
    • Captures consignment program activities, processes inventories, and maintains records and reporting.


    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college, or university;
    • Two to four years of accounting experience.
    • Experience with general ledger accounting systems, Great Plains a plus.
    • A high level of proficiency in using Microsoft Excel.
    • Familiarity with inventory-based business applications systems is a plus.

    Position has travel requirements of a local nature to other inventory sites (within 125 miles), usually by car, for up to 25% of the time; must maintain a valid California Driver’s License and participate in the company driving policy requirements.

    This position is regularly required to work in an office environment where the noise level is usually quiet.  Throughout the year the employee may be required to perform duties in an outdoor environment, to include the warehouse and lumber yards, in all types of environmental conditions.
