    Mendocino Forest Products (MFP) is looking for a dynamic HR professional to join our team! As an HR Specialist you will be part of an excellent HR team, which strives to provide outstanding professional support for a wide range of Human Resources activities.

    The key areas of focus for this position are as follows; Manage Workers Compensation claims and effectively communicate between Workers Compensation carriers, employees, and other employer representatives. Assists with Benefit enrollments and determine employee eligibility. Coordinate and process medical and non-medical Leaves of Absence while maintaining compliance.

    • Act as liaison between Employees, Managers, HR, Carriers and Safety regarding industrial injuries
    • Process Workers Compensation claims
    • Participate in quarterly Workers Compensation claims review meetings
    • Assist with employee ADA Accommodation processes and maintain legal compliance
    • Create regular statistical reports for management
    • Process Leaves of Absence, including meeting with employees face-to-face or by phone
    • Process invoices accurately and as appropriate
    • Assist with Benefit Enrollments, terminations and COBRA
    • Prepares and sends Benefit compliance mailings
    • Monitor and ensure compliance of governmental regulations and insurance industry requirements
    • Maintain Confidentiality in all aspects
    • Greets visitors/applicants in a professional manner
    • Other projects as assigned


    • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school preferred and minimum five years progressive Human Resource administration experience
    • Competent with standard W/C procedures, concepts and administration of claims
    • Understanding of leave protection laws including FMLA, CFRA, and USERRA
    • Working HR knowledge (Labor Law and standards) preferable
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook and ADP
    • Must maintain and carry a valid California driver license and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines
    • Possess the ability to speak professionally and effectively in group settings
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as labor law, regulatory agency information requests, audit results, recommendations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, monitoring analysis and reports as needed
    • Fluency in Spanish is preferred

    • This position will traverse stairway on a regular basis during the workday
    • This position is required to sit, type and review monitor for long periods of time; repetitive typing motion is required
