    Mendocino Redwood Company, MRC is looking for an experienced Road Crew Supervisor to Provide oversight and daily management of selected logging road maintenance, new logging road construction and restoration projects out of our Ukiah, CA  Forestry office. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Responsibilities

    • Supervise crew and contractors to maintain and construct roads, bridges, culverts, and water drainage ditches
    • Supervise all Annual Gravel and Aggregate Operations
    • Assist Road Manager with Planned Operations
    • Coordinate and dispatches all trucking required for Construction and Maintenance Projects
    • Establish or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
    • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
    • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or crew
    • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
    • Monitors and expedites both contractor and company projects
    • Recommends the design and procedures of projects
    • Analyzes drainage, safety hazards, soil conditions, dangerous areas and work areas
    • Coordinates material and resources to complete jobs in a timely manner
    • Prepares daily reports of equipment hours, inventory and fuel used
    • Communicates with vendors daily and purchases materials and supplies for the Road Department
    • Coordinates with the Area Foresters on a weekly basis to set up jobs
    • Communicates with the Office or HR Administrator regarding payroll
    • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations and maintains time and production records
    • Operates heavy equipment including caterpillars, backhoes, loaders, graders, dump trucks, excavators, three axle trucks and two axle trailers
    • Develops and reviews budget with Forest Operations Manager

    Qualifications

    •  Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry or a related field; and minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training; or, five to seven years related experience and/or training
    • Must maintain and carry a valid California driver license and be eligible to operate company vehicles including automobiles and trucks in accordance with company policy guidelines
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
    • This position must have the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel programs

    Physical Requirements

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside adverse weather and field conditions including steep and difficult terrain
    • The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; moving mechanical parts; electrical shock; toxic or caustic chemicals; and extreme heat
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
    • This job requires wearing eye protection, hearing protection, leather or rubber gloves, dust mask and hard hat.
    • Position travels locally (within 100 miles), usually by truck, up to 75% of the time
