    Mendocino Forest Products is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team! To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     • Assure safe workplace practices are followed and promote safety awareness
    • Perform QC audits at log deck, sawmill, dry kilns, planer, re-man, fence line, green and dry yards
    • Perform baseline studies, process capability evaluations, and facilitate implementation of process control measures
    • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and inefficiencies
    • Focus on continuous improvement and product quality
    • Discuss quality control concerns with Quality Assurance Director
    • Must have excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving abilities


    • BS degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics or equivalent.
    • Six sigma certifications desirable
    • Background in statistical analysis as applied in manufacturing setting
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft excel
    • Ability to understand and implement new data gathering and analytical methods to process improvement
    • Proficient in documentation, process flow, math computation & computer technology
    • Ability to understand and implement benchmark quality measures into lumber processing

    Physical Requirements

    • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds
    • This position requires the employee to view a computer screen and use a keyboard for extended periods of time
    • This position requires wearing eye and hearing protection, safety shoes, leather or rubber gloves, and hard hat
    • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to machinery in operation, fumes, dust, and loud noise environments
