    MFP is looking for an experienced Fabricator to join our team at Ukiah Sawmill. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required.     Responsibilities

    Participate in new construction and upgrades to existing mill equipment.  Work with Millwrights and Engineering to design and complete practical, cost effective fabrication. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

     

    • Read and understand blue prints
    • Operate shop equipment, i.e. iron worker, bandsaw, drill press, forklift etc.
    • Proficient in welding and cutting
    • Follow written and verbal instructions
    • Assess used equipment condition and specs, may make recommendations to purchase supplies as needed
    • Notify supervisor for removal and transportation of any used equipment
    • Continually work to develops skills for fabrication
    • Work with Project Engineer and mill personnel to make equipment modifications as necessary to improve reliability or productivity of equipment and installation of new or used equipment
    • Maintain shop housekeeping
    • Travel between facilities and work different schedules
    • Work with safety as primary responsibility

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of two years fabrication and or construction experience. Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical controls, as well as, machine and machine control design is required.  Familiarity with OSHA codes.
    • Must maintain and carry a valid California driver license and remain eligible and capable of operating company vehicles in accordance with company policy guidelines.
    • Forklift and Man lift license or ability to obtain within six-months.
    • Must have some skill levels with Microsoft Office.
    • Intermediate to advanced skill level with CAD, Solid Works and/or Visio software would be beneficial.
    • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, etc.
    • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, and communicate.
    • Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
    • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
    • The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; explosives; and risk of radiation

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, and communicate.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • The employee is occasionally required to smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
    • The employee will split his/her time between a typical manufacturing office environment and the manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate while the noise level in the sawmill dictates the necessity for hearing protection when working on the manufacturing floor.
    • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; explosives; and risk of radiation.
    • This position may require the following equipment when in the plant: eye protection, hearing protection, leather/rubber gloves, safety shoes, hard hat and fall protection as required
